Insurance Fraud Investigation Experience:

Mark J. Colbert has investigated thousands of Life Insurance Fraud cases for both legal professionals and the Victims of Life Insurance Fraud.

Since 1993, I have worked closely with both the Sales and Management divisions of several major life insurance companies in order to examine the sales methods used by their agents.

I have investigated cases involving over a dozen different insurance companies including: Metropolitan Life, Prudential, New York Life, John Hancock, Guardian, Allstate, Primerica, State Farm, Jackson National Life, Old Line Life, The Aid Association for Lutherans, Aetna, The Mutual Trust Life Insurance Company and several companies who have been accused of misleading members of America's Labor Unions.

I was named as an Expert Witness by the very first law firm to take a MetLife case to trial in California. Since that time, I have participated as an Expert and/or percipient witness in numerous cases.

I have contributed directly to the investigations of several companies by several state's Departments of Insurance and Attorney General's offices.

I have instructed a number of attorneys and State officials on insurance sales practices known as "churning, piggy-backing, and premium re-direction".

I have investigated and/or referred over 3000 cases to various attorneys and am currently assisting many different law firms in several states with the litigation of various insurance cases.

I have participated or been named in, written about, or assisted with: numerous news segments on NBC, ABC, and PBS affiliates, Newsweek, Money, Woman's Day, Sales & Marketing Management magazines, The Wall Street Journal, National Underwriter, San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Times, Bloomberg News, Contra Costa Times and many other publications. I have been contacted for assistance by people as far away as Ontario, Canada and Beijing, China.

In 1995, I Discovered over 300 employees of a large glass factory near Madera, CA, who were mislead by insurance sales people. After exposing the fraud to Union representatives, various journalists, and a CBS television affiliate, I saw that everyone received restitution.

I contributed to the investigation that led to the impeachment of California State Department of Insurance Commissioner, Chuck Quackenbush.

October, 2000, I presented the "Courage and Caring Award" to Cindy Ossias, the Senior Staff Counsel at the California State Department of Insurance who blew the whistle on a fund Quackenbush established with money from settlements he engineered with insurance companies accused of failing to honor claims in the wake of the Northridge earthquake.

June, 2001, San Francisco Superior Court, Expert, opinion; testimony for plaintiff. Heller Ehrman White and McAuliffe v. Guardian Life Insurance Company.

May, 2004, Expert, Consultant / Investigator for a firm in Paradise, CA. I investigated two agents who were accused of misrepresenting the terms and conditions of Final Needs / burial policies for the Great Western, Homesteaders and Forethought life insurance companies.

December. 2002, Expert, Consultant/Investigator for the firm: Casper, Meadows & Schwartz, Contra Costa County, CA. Over 100 individual cases against several life insurance companies who had been accused of misleading members of America's Labor Unions.
